Kinematics of Hipparcos Visual Binaries. II. Stars with Ground-Based Orbital Solutions This paper continues kinematical investigations of the Hipparcos visualbinaries with known orbits. A sample, consisting of 804 binary systemswith orbital elements determined from ground-based observations, isselected. The mean relative error of their parallaxes is about 12% andthe mean relative error of proper motions is about 4%. However, even 41%of the sample stars lack radial velocity measurements. The computedGalactic velocity components and other kinematical parameters are usedto divide the stars with known radial velocities into kinematical agegroups. The majority (92%) of binaries from the sample are thin diskstars, 7.6% have thick disk kinematics and only two binaries have halokinematics. Among them, the long-period variable Mira Ceti has a verydiscordant {Hipparcos} and ground-based parallax values. From the wholesample, 60 stars are ascribed to the thick disk and halo population. There is an urgent need to increase the number of the identified halobinaries with known orbits and substantially improve the situation withradial velocity data for stars with known orbits.
| Mesures d'etoiles doubles faites aux lunettes de 74 et 50 CM de l'Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur We give 657 measurements of double stars, Table 1 by R. Gili with CCDcamera, Table 2 by P. Couteau with filar micrometer. Tables 1 and 2 areonly available in electronic form at the CDS via anonymous ftp tocdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/Abstract.html.
| Measurements of close binaries performed at PIC DU Midi A total of 241 measurements of 119 close binaries observed with the 2-mTelescope Bernard Lyot at Pic du Midi Observatory are given. Themeasurements were performed with a micrometer with illuminated wires.
| Observations of double stars and new pairs. XV The study reports visual and photographic measures listed for 1150 pairsobtained in the time frame 1989.91-1992.15, including 221 new doublestars. Magnitudes were estimated for a part of the objects, especiallythe fainter ones. Plate orientations were calculated from field stars ofknown positions and were precessed to the epoch; numbers of nights andof measured exposures are given. Reobservation of faint, neglected pairsreveal many corrections to the data from the old discovery lists.
| Binary-star measurements carried out at PIC DU Midi and at Nice Data on 219 measurements of 103 close binaries observed with the 2mtelescope at Pic du Midi are presented. Also presented are data on 230measurements of 126 binaries observed with the 74 cm refractor of theNice Observatory.
| Observations of double stars and new pairs. XIV Results of a continuing survey of visual double stars are presented, including 4880 measurements made from February 1987 to November 1989.The positions in WDS format and Durchmusterung numbers are given for 194pairs first reported here. Micrometer measurements of 1142 doubles madewith the Swarthmore 61 cm refractor are presented. Magnitudes areestimated for some of the objects. Plate measurements, plateorientations, position angles, number of nights, and measured exposuresare given. Visual observations of 342 pairs obtained in May 1989 atCerro Tololo, mostly with the 1.0 m reflector, are reported.
| Binary star measurements made at Pic-du-Midi The 2-m Pic-du-Midi telescope has been used to obtain 130 visualmeasurements of 64 very close binaries. The measurements were made withan illuminated cross wire micrometer which provided magnificationfactors of 2500 to 5000. Data are presented in tabular form for suchmeasurements as total visual magnitude, angular position andseparations, and period.
| Micrometer observations of double stars and new pairs. XIII From a program of double star observations which emphasizes orbital, neglected, and newly discovered pairs, results obtained from October1984 to January 1987 are presented. A total of 3030 visual and 550photographic measures are listed. The positions in WDS format andDurchmusterung numbers are shown for 117 pairs for which firstobservations appear in this paper. Magnitudes are estimated for some ofthe objects.
| Measurements of double stars at Nice with 74-cm and 50-cm refractors A total of 717 measures of 287 binaries made at the 74-cm and 50-cmrefractors are presented. These are mostly very close binariesdiscovered recently, for which a rapid orbital motion is evident forabout 30 percent.
| Orbital elements for twenty-eight visual binaries In addition to presenting the orbital elements of 22 revised and six newpairs, attention is given to the ephemeris, dynamical parallax, and O-Cresiduals of each star. The stars are 148-BU 1026, 864-A 2308, 1315-HU531, 1530-A 2407, 2578-A 983, 3552-HU 1090, 6291-STF 1130, 6721-STF1211, 6814-HU 714, 7124-HU 718, 7896-A 2768, 8680-HU 640, 8884-A 2489,9185-A 1101, 10158-A 349, 10230-STT 315, 10531-HU 1179, 10912-STF 2244,1236-BU 1129, 12469-Schj 22, BD + 39 3878-Kpr 94, I12577-HU 951, 13169-A606, 14783-H 1 48, 15378-A 889, 15650-A 308, 15902-BU 172, and 17030-A424.
| Micrometer measurements of visual binaries A total of 376 micrometer measurements of 116 visual binaries made atthe Nice Observatory, France, in the years 1980-1983 is presented. Eachpair is identified by the A.D.S. number, the name of the couple, and theB.D. number. The next line gives the I.D.S. number, the A.D.S.magnitudes, and the spectral types. This is followed by the epoch of theobservation, the observed position angle and distance of the components, and the aperture of the refractor used. The means and the residuals fromknown orbits are given in the next lines. The symbol 'N' denotes thatthe observations were made with a 74-cm refractor; the symbol 'n'denotes a 50-cm refractor.
